Fairhope Travel Guide: Jubilee Suites

Who likes to get away for their birthday? This girl right here sure does! This year, Skot and I decided to take the boys with us back to a town we fell in love with last summer, Fairhope, Alabama.

Last time we stayed in a large hotel type resort, but this year we wanted something smaller and more intimate, where we could feel like we were home away from home!

When I started looking at boutique hotels in the area, I found the most picturesque Inn for us…Jubilee Suites!

Jubilee Suites has everything you could want right on site including a bay-front beach. As soon as we arrived, we headed straight for there! We were literally the only people at the bay which was amazing for the boys to let their energy out at.

The inn provides Adirondack chairs, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, and life jackets of all sizes FREE to their guests. We enjoyed these activities several times during our stay!

Once we got some of the car ride wiggles out, we settled into our beautiful, ground floor suite, The Dogwood.

The Jubilee Suites staff’s attention to detail really shines through in the guest accommodations.

Upon arrival, we found fresh baked cookies and muffins homemade by the innkeeper herself! We also were welcomed with serval small arrangements of fresh flowers throughout our suite. Another special touch was a custom blend of tea next to the teapot!

Details like these and so many more throughout the property are what set Jubilee Suites apart from other larger properties. Not to mention that we got to know the inn keepers, Dana and Jim, during our stay. They are the most charming couple who you can immediately tell have a heart for hosting people at their inn!

Our suite was extremely clean and beautifully decorated with bright white walls and linens with pops of coastal accents throughout. But the star of the inn was the view! Jubilee Suites is set on a hill that provides the most remarkable view of Mobile Bay.

There are several areas on the property to relax and take in this stunning view. We especially enjoyed our patio and the fire pit that we visited nightly with a glass of wine in hand! I can’t talk about the property without mentioning the resident kitties. These cats are Dana and Jim’s and they are the most friendly cats I’ve ever been around. After we all took turns petting and scratching their heads, they would jump into our laps and purr away. They would let Smith (2yo) chase them around and love on them as well. So friendly and a wonderful addition to the Inn!

My birthday day was made extra special with a combination of surprises from the boys and Jubilee Suites! I woke up to a homemade breakfast from Skot complete with mimosas and birthday presents! Then I got to enjoy a massage that was given in a room on property. This is a wonderful amenity that Jubilee can book for you during your stay.

We then enjoyed some family time at the bay. The boys played in the sand and took advantage of the on site swing!

After taking some family photos, we experienced one of the most special meals prepared by a very talented chef right inside the Jubilee Suites’ main kitchen. Shelly prepared four amazing courses for us that included a carrot purée soup, an Asian inspired butter lettuce salad, fresh caught grouper with local peas and blood orange couscous, and finally a homemade purple sweet potato birthday cake with cream cheese icing! I’m salivating just thinking back about it all! The boys also felt extra special getting to experience this meal with us! The next day at lunch Cedar said “Can we get that nice lady to make us lunch?” :)

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay at Jubilee Suites! This property is perfect for families but it would also be ideal for a girls getaway, couples weekend or even a solo retreat to recharge! We will definitely be back, hopefully very soon!

Here’s a list of a few other things we enjoyed during our stay in Fairhope! If you have any questions at all please leave a comment or send me an e-mail! Thanks for reading!

Where we ate:

The Hope Farm: Has an amazing farm to table menu, great drinks and wine selections. Make reservations early. We sat on the patio which was perfect for the boys. There was also live music the night we went!

Sunset Point: We ate lunch here both during our last trip and this one as well. It’s right on the water and you can watch the boats come in and out. Their mojito is my favorite!

Things We Did:

We really spent most of our time at the inn but we did visit the Fairhope Community Park. It has got a great splash pad and playground. It’s worth noting that there is a public restroom at this park too!

We didn’t plan to time our stay up with the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival but it just so happened we did! I walked around several booths and admired a wide arrange of art, jewelry, pottery, and other hand made goods. The men-folk weren’t too keen on shopping. I wish I could have explored more. Would be nice to go back for a girls trip during this event one year!

Dinosaurs in the Woods: We drove about 45 mins away from Fairhope on our trip down to see this “attraction.” The boys were really excited about seeing one of their favorite animals in the woods. If you’re driving into Fairhope with dino-lovers and this is on your way, it’s definitely worth stopping to see. BUT if it’s out of your way, I would say pass on it. There were only 4 dinosaur structures and besides taking a photo, there wasn’t anything else to do. But nonetheless they still enjoyed the 15 minutes we were there, just not sure if it was worth the hour and half detour.

House Gazing: This is one of my favorite things to do in Fairhope. The exterior design in the area is so beautiful and inspiring. We went on a family walk just in the neighborhood outside Jubilee Suites and saw all of these amazing homes below and many more! If you’re into home design, landscaping, or just enjoy pretty homes you’ve got to stroll around the streets down here!

Our stay at Jubilee Suites was provided in exchange for the social media coverage we provided for the inn. However, all reviews and opinions are my own and I genuinely recommend the property! Thank you Jubilee Suites for hosting us!
