Laundry Room Progress Report

As we near the end of the year, I love to look back at what goals I set out almost 12 months ago. This year I made a list of personal, social, health, and house project goals. I’m excited to report to you that I am going to complete ALL of the house goals by the end of the year! Let’s not talk about the other categories okay?

One of the biggest projects was to finish out the laundry room. When we were building, we decided to wait until we got in and figured out how we use this space for our family before designing it. I’m SO glad we waited because I know I wouldn’t have thought of all the details that I now know will be most useful to us!

I also have learned of a wonderful one-stop-shop, Cottage Supply Company who have played a HUGE roll at bringing my vision to life with this project! More on them in a minute. First I want to show you some of the beautiful laundry rooms that I have saved for inspiration! The sources are linked below the photos.

Clearly I was drawn to a little soft blue color in laundry rooms. I also loved the functionality of incorporating an extension of the mudroom in this space. Our mudroom/ drop zone is very small so I knew adding hooks on a wall would be super useful for us. We also have found we line dry a ton of our clothing so having a bar to hang hangers on for drying was a must.

Once I set up my free consultation meeting with the team at Cottage Supply Company, I sent over my inspiration photos and wishes for the space to them. When I showed up for the initial meeting, the team had samples of cabinets, hardware, wallpaper, and much more pulled for me. There were options but not an overwhelming amount like walking blindly into a huge box store or browsing hundreds of pages online. The team really understood my style and desires and had specific items pulled just for me! This was just one of the amazing reasons I loved working with Cottage Supply Company on this project!

Now let’s take a look at our “before” laundry room space. It was a great space before but very underutilized. There was always piles happening on the floor and on top of the dryer. We clearly needed shelves to place laundry baskets. I also wanted cabinets to hide the detergents, cleaning tools, and other items.

The Cottage Supply team had the great idea of having a tall skinny cabinet at the end of the room to store the broom, mops, and vacuum. It’s all about hiding the clutter when creating a calming but functional space!

Within weeks of having my initial meeting with The Cottage Supply Company, the team had a 3D drawing of the room and a design board of all the selections we made. It was so amazing to see the space this way before the installation began.

The Cottage Supply Company ordered everything we needed down to the hooks for our “mudroom” wall! They were very informative and prompt about communication with the shipping times. While we waited on everything to come in, I kept an eye on the washer and dryer sales going on and was able to get a new front loader washer and matching dryer for the new space!

When cabinet install day came around, The Cottage Supply Company delivery service, installation team, and designers all were so helpful and professional.

The Kentucky Haze blue cabinets the team helped pick out were even more beautiful in the room than I imagined! These cabinets are the perfect blend of beauty and function! The whole cabinet install process took just half a day too.

The Cottage Supply Company delivered our tile for the backsplash, a beautiful wallpaper they helped pick out, and the hooks for the accent wall that day too. They do offer installation for these products as well but Skot and I were up for a little DIY for this project.

I can’t wait to show you the finished laundry room so soon! Be looking out for that blog post next. Thanks for reading friends, please reach out to me or Cottage Supply Company with any questions!
