Brick Arch

When we started dreaming of building, one of the first design elements we picked out was having a brick arch separating the kitchen from the living room area. I remember coming across a photo on Pinterest of a home that had this accent and it stopped me in my scroll. I thought “this is the WOW factor I want in our forever home!”

( This blog post is in partnership with The Brick Industry Association. It was a joy to work with them on this because we really do LOVE all of the brick accents throughout our home.)

Fast forward a couple of years and it was finally time to build! I still had my heart set on a brick arch, so that’s where I began on my design journey. I knew the color brick we chose would set the tone for the whole house. I also knew it be used in other areas like the indoor and outdoor fireplaces as well. So needless to say it was a very big decision.

When I envisioned our forever home, where my kids would grow up, family Christmases would be spent, and countless other memories made, one word kept coming to mind… warmth. I knew adding in the texture and color variations that brick offers would give me the warmth my heart desired for our home. With that being my guide, we picked out a beautiful brick by Meridian Brick called Alamo. It had so many pretty color variations all with all warm undertones that I wanted.

Once I picked out the brick we would use, I based all my other decisions around that. I remember carrying a few of the brick samples with us to the countertop warehouse, the flooring store, and the cabinet supplier. It literally was the “rock” of the design process!

I still remember to this day how it felt walking into our under-construction-home to this view. I was blown away by how beautiful the brick arch turned out. It definitely added the warmth I wanted and had that “WOW” factor. Brick is a material that has lasted the test of time both structurally and from a design standpoint. It is durable and beautiful. It adds character to both old and new homes. We truly are so pleased with how the brick we used throughout our home turned out.

It was hard to narrow down which photos I wanted to share of all the brick accents we have, so I just included several for you! I hope you enjoy scrolling through them. If you have any questions at all, I would be more than happy to help answer them! Thank you for reading friends - Jamie
